Thaddeus Woodhead gets the win by pinfall over Dimitri Campos on senior night Wedensday.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, Elk Lake packed the gym for its wrestling senior night, and gave the crowd a show as the Warriors picked up their first dual win of the season, 33-27, over North Pocono.

The Warriors began the night against North Pocono with a junior high match, followed by an elementary program, and then eased into senior night, honoring the two seniors.

Elk Lake head coach Rob Gagliardi was looking forward to the matchup against the Trojans, as his brother Gino is on the staff there.

Seniors Noah Atkins (170) and Thaddeus Woodhead (152) capped their night with pins in 1:52 over Jacob Clancy and in 2:16 over Dimitri Campos, respectively.

Joe Mershen kicked off the match with a win by forfeit.

Codi Bomboy picked up a pin in the 145-pound match over Owen Foytack in 4:59, and freshman John Tyler wasted no time on the mat, pinning Aidan Hastings in 20 seconds.

Todd Snyder secured points from his 6-3 decision over Chris Khoury in the 138 bout. Terrence Brozonis lost his 160-bout, 5-0.

The Warriors had a 33-3 lead, and were able to hold on even after surrendering four matches to forfeits.

Elk Lake will wrestle its last dual tonight at Wyoming Area before preparing for districts at Hazelton Area Friday, Feb.21.
