Bill Longstreet Youth Fishing Derby

Kids 13 and under are invited to the second annual Bill Longstreet Memorial Youth Fishing Derby at Stone Hedge on Sunday, July 5.

Anyone who knew Bill knows how much he loved kids and more so, teaching kids how to fish and enjoy the outdoors.

Admission will be $5 per kid starting at 2 p.m. in the parking lot at the club house. We will then shuttle everyone down to the derby itself, which will begin at 3 p.m. at the pond. Prizes will be awarded for the three largest fish.

Food and drinks will also be available for an additional fee.

All Proceeds will go to Kevin Kitchnefsky spinal chord research. We are accepting donations and gifts for prizes as well as for Kevin’s foundation. All donations can be dropped off at the Stone Hedge pro shop.

Misericordia cancels campsAccording to Cougars Athletic Director, Chuck Edkins, all summer sports camps, clinics, and programs for the community youth have been cancelled.

Shadowbrook golf campThe annual golf camp, held at Shadowbrook, will be held August 3-6 this year. Watch for more information.

Railriders refundsThe Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre Railriders released a statement on Friday to their fans, addressing returns and refunds of season tickets.

The statement read, in part, “While we await more information on when baseball will return, we must fulfill our commitment to (the fans) by providing flexible options to choose from as it relates to the status of your tickets purchased for the 2020 season schedule in Moosic. We certainly understand the hardships this global pandemic has caused, so hopefully this eases some concern to get these options to you now and not waiting for an official announcement from Minor League Baseball.”

Ticket holders can select and click one of the appropriate links on the teams website to complete and submit ticket refunds or exchange requests (separated by ticket type). Once received, a representative will fulfill your request.If fans have already received and submitted their requests, no further action is needed.

Week One scores: GEMS Girls won, 28-5, over Gordon Long; Bottoms Up took a 19-18 nailbitter from Ardees; and Shadyside topped Mountain Energy 22-9.

Men’s League

Tuesday, June 16

Week one scores: Mile Hill beat Moose Lodge, 31-24; MC and the Bartrons beat Norm Wood Trucking 20-5; LWIS/Dirt Pigs finished 17-2 over Beer 30; Ardees had a bye.

Week two (June 23) schedule: Ardees at Moose Lodge; Norm Wood Trucking at LWIS/Dirt Pigs; Beer 30 at MC and the Bartrons; Mile Hill had a bye.
