WVC Coaches soccer all-stars

The Wyoming Valley Conference girls soccer coaches recently selected their all-star teams for the 2019 season.

WVC Coaches volleyball all-stars

The Wyoming Valley Conference girls volleyball coaches recently selected their all-star teams for the 2019 season.

Tunkhannock junior Dana Macko, who tied for fifth with 125 kills and 44 aces, and ranked eighth with 170 digs, was namedto the first team.

Honorable mentions went to Tunkhannock’s Rani Shrivastava, Lily Miller and Ava Tyler.

Powder Puff Game

Tunkhannock Area High School’s Powder Puff Game will be on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. on the football field in conjunction with the sponsoring of local charities.

The girls will be competing against each other for bragging rights as usual, but together they will be competing to help out those less fortunate in our community. The game will kick off a week of collections.

As the holiday seasons and impending cold weather quickly approaches, TAHS will continue to collect non-perishable food items, as well as gently used winter clothing for admission into this year’s game. A monetary donation will also be accepted for entry into the game.

Baked goods and refreshments donated by the freshman class will be available for purchase.

Tunkhannock

The Tunkhannock Area swimming pool hours for the fall have been released.

The pool will be open Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m., at $2 per hour.

It will also be open Tuesday and Thursday for water aerobics, 5:45-6:45 p.m., at $3 per hour.

Elk Lake

The Elk Lake School District Aquatic Center in Dimock has planned activities for this fall.

Water aerobics ($2.50/person) are from 3:45 to 4:45 on Monday and Wednesday, and 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday and Thursday.

The aerobic/adult swim program on Saturdays is from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. and is $2.50/person.

Open swim is offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The fee for open swim will be $1 a person.

For weekend pool rentals, please call the pool office for available times at a reasonable cost.

Guppies age group swim team program will begin in October.
