As the fall season winds down, teams are looking forward to the postseason.

Golf held its team districts already, and individual district competition last week.

Doubles matches for Tunkhannock tennis will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, with the semifinals and finals also at Kirby Park at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

In field hockey, both Lackawanna Trail and Tunkhannock Area compete in the single A bracket. The top eight teams, as well as any teams with a record over .500, are eligible for the postseason.

If a first round is needed, it will be held on Friday, Oct. 18. The quarter finals will be Monday, Oct. 21 and the semifinals on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The rain dates for each round are scheduled for the following day.

The field hockey championship game will be held at Wyoming Valley West High School on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

There will be a $7 admission fee for adults and $4 for students for the championship game only.

Volleyball begins Thursday, Oct. 24 with first round action for Tunkhannock, and Saturday, Oct. 26 for Elk Lake and Lackawanna Trail. Semifinals for the Tigers Class AAA bracket will be held Monday, Oct. 28 with a single finals match at a neutral site on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

As for Class A teams Elk Lake and Trail, the post season will have semi finals on Tuesday, Oct. 29 with a finals doubleheader on Thursday, Oct. 31 at a neutral site.

Soccer will run with the same format as field hockey, with the top eight teams qualifying alongside any team with a record above .500.

If it is needed, the first round for the Class AAA (Tunkhannock) boys will be Monday, Oct. 21 and for Class A (Elk Lake) on Thursday, Oct. 24. Quarter finals for Oct. 23 and Oct. 26, respectively. Semifinals for both classifications will be held Monday, Oct. 28 with the finals on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

In girls competition, Class AAA first round action will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, if needed. Class A supports six total teams, so all teams will qualify for the postseason, despite their records. Quarterfinals for AAA will be held on Oct. 26. On Tuesday, Oct. 29, both brackets will have semifinals, and the final match will be on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Football playoffs begin Nov. 1 for Class AAAA, the classification for Tunkhannock and Montrose. District II semi finals are on Nov. 8, with the District II championship on Nov. 15.

Class A, Trail’s bracket, will host its championship on Nov. 1 with a state preliminary round on Nov. 8 against the District I champion. The first round of state championships will be Nov. 15 against the District XI winner.
