After swiping a road win over Mountain View, the Lackawanna Trail volleyball team suffered a shut down due to the district quarantining students as a result of a COVID-19 positive test in the high school.

Mountain View won a close first set Monday over Trail, but the rest of the night belonged to the Lady Lions.

The Eagles took a 25-22 win, but Trail followed it up with convincing 25-18, 25-16, and 25-16 scores to wrap up the night.

Ashtyn Mecca had seven kills and Sydney Kimmel and Nadia Toth each had six blocks to lead Trail.

The Trail team, 4-2, was affected by the district quarantine on Tuesday, and as a result, will be shutting down its volleyball program for 14 days.

According to Athletic Director Ed Gaidula, the team began their quarantine on Oct. 6 and that would close out the season and take them into the playoffs.

Also, Gaidula said the games would be scored as “no contest” rather than a loss in the parameters of the PIAA COVID-19 regulations.
