The Lady Tigers ended their impressive win streak, but continue to battle in the Wyoming Valley Conference.
Tuesday at MMI Prep, Megan Straley had 27 digs and three kills, Alexandra Rought added 12 digs, and Jena Simmons notched 11 digs and 11 kills, leading Tunkhannock to a win.
Molly Goodwin added 11 digs, six kills and three blocks for the victors. Dana Macko had eight kills.
Annalise Verbeek had six digs and Abbigale Mingues added nine digs.
Tunkhannock dismissed the Preppers, 25-15, 25-16, and 25-20 in three straight sets on their way to a 9-1 record.
At home on Thursday, Straley (12 digs) and Macko (11 digs) led the Tigers’ defense in the straight-set win. Macko added a team-high five kills. Goodwin chipped in six digs and Simmons had six.
The Tigers cruised to their tenth win of the season, and ninth straight, with 25-8, 25-13, and 25-14 wins.
But Tunkhannock’s streak would end there.
On Monday in Nanticoke, the Trojanettes won in four matches, taking the first two 25-11 and 25-10 befroe the Tigers would win the third, 25-17. The fourth match belonged to Nanticoke, 25-10.
Goodwin had seven digs and four kills for Tunkhannock. Macko registered seven digs and two kills. Straley had 18 digs and Simmons 10 digs.
Tunkhannock is now 10-2 on the season with five games remaining.
