Tunkhannock Area tennis player Jillian Landon sits at the Lady Tigers No. 1 spot, and is a major force in keeping her team undefeated after four matches.

In recognition of her achievement, Landon has been named the Wyoming County Press Examiner Athlete of the Week.

What other sports do you play? I run distance in track and field

Three reasons why you compete: I compete for the love of the sport of tennis, I like being able to do something my family enjoys watching, and I like the aspect of practicing to be better, then being able to show it off in matches.

Athletes you admire: All of my teammates because they support me, but professionally, Naomi Oksaka

Which celebrity would you like to meet at Dunkin for a cup of coffee? Taylor Swift

Who inspires you to be better? My family because they support me and that means so much to me.

Favorite school subject: Science, specifically biology

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Australia

What is your biggest fear? Flying in an airplane over an ocean.

Favorite Social Media App: I’d say Snapchat, but I don’t really use social media.

Favorite Radio Station: Hits 1 on Sirius

What was the last show you binged on Netflix? The Kissing Booth movies

What is the best place for post game food? The Freez after a win

Who makes you laugh the most? My brother and teammates crack some good jokes, but honestly, I’m quite the comedian, I crack myself up.

Superstitions or Rituals: Meghan (Keiser) has to braid my hair on match days

What song would you sing at karaoke? “The Man” by Taylor Swift

When did you start playing tennis competitively? 8th grade

Favorite court to compete on and why? Our home court because there is a slight discoloration, from a leaf stain I think, that I know where I like to serve from.

What is your favorite tennis memory? Going to districts my sophomore year, as our No. 1 singles player, and taking three sets against Wyoming Seminary’s No. 1.

What did you want to be when you were younger? A marine biologist

What is your dream job now? Either an engineer or dentist

What is the coolest place you have traveled to? Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia

Who are your closest teammates? Our whole team is a family

How would you describe Coach Kuzma in one word? Tops

How would she describe you? Motivated

What sports quote or motto do you try to live by? “You only live once but you get to serve twice.”

What skill would you like to master? Time management

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Be a part of a team- sports, scholastic, or anything- but just be able to have a group of people you are close with and can depend on.

Random fun fact: I once ate fried chicken hearts. I also play the electric bass.

Post-graduation plans: Go to college and major in engineering or biology with a pre-dental track. I am still debating on weather or not I will continue tennis in college.
