Against Montrose last Thursday, Lackawanna Trail senior Nate Rolka struck out 15 Meteors en route to an 18-3 win. Rolka had 27 strikeouts for the season headed into Tuesday’s game versus Blue Ridge. In recognition of his achievement, Rolka has been named the Wyoming County Press Examiner Athlete of the Week.

Off season club: I am not playing travel ball this season, but I used to play for Baseball U of PA.

Who inspires you to be better? My parents because from a young age they taught me to work hard and put a good effort into everything I do.

When did you start your sport competitively? When I was about five.
Favorite field to compete on and why? Home field, because there is nothing like playing at home. PNC Park was nice, sure, but you have to love to play on your own field.
What is your favorite baseball memory? Throwing a no hitter against Susquehanna last year. I also hit two home runs in that game.
What is your dream job? I’m not sure what I want to do yet, but I’d love to be an offensive coordinator in the NFL or in a NCAA program.
What is the coolest place you have traveled to? Australia
Who are your closest teammates? The other seniors on our team- Jordan Edwards, Noah Coleman, and Ray Melnikoff who is a sophomore.

What sports quote or motto do you try to live by? “Everyone has plans until you get punched in the mouth. It isn’t about doing well when you are up, but how you react to the tough times.”
What skill would you like to master? To be able to play the guitar

Would you say you’re more of an extrovert or an introvert? It depends on the situation, I can be quiet but also very energetic

Post-graduation plans: To go undeclared to the University of Delaware to play baseball.
During the course of the game, did you know how many strikeouts you had? I tried to not let it get to me, but once we got into the dugout, we realized that there had not been an out made on a ball in play. But in that moment, you can’t think about it.
