Tunkhannock Area freshman Matt Prebola threw the javelin 182 feet in a meet against GAR. Prebola was first in the nation among freshman boys, with a score of 174-4 feet, headed into this past weekend. He is the number two seed for districts later this week. In recognition of his achievement, Prebola has been named the Wyoming County Press Examiner Athlete of the Week.

Who inspires you to be better? Both of my parents. My mom supports all that I do, and my dad coaches me with javelin and football.

When did you start your sport competitively? 8th grade
Favorite field to compete on and why? Our home field. I love to compete in front of our hometown crowd.
What is your favorite javelin memory? I have two. Last Monday (May 6), I threw 182 feet, which made me very happy. I also threw 174 feet at the East Stroudsburg University Invitational, which was the best throw by a freshman in the country.

Random fun fact about you: I used to have a chicken egg business in fourth grade. I did well, but the chickens were killed, and I went bankrupt.
Post-graduation plans: I am currently enjoying the moment, but I want to go to college and will probably throw javelin in college.
How are you able to play lacrosse and throw javelin in the same season? I work it out each week with the coaches. Usually, I got to javelin for the first hour of practice, and then I go to lacrosse for the second hour.
