Elk Lake golfer Chloe Sipe is coming off of a stellar junior season, winning the girls’ fall finale, placing sixth in the state individual competition, and third at the team competition Monday.

In recognition of her achievement, Sipe has been named the Wyoming County Press Examiner Athlete of the Week.

Three reasons why you compete: I compete because it is in my blood, it helps me to push myself to be better, and it feels amazing to accomplish things, like winning the big tournaments.

Who inspires you to be better? My dad because he always pushes me to the max, and he is such a dedicated worker, I aspire to be like him every day.

When did you start golfing competitively? Just in my freshman year, so not even three years ago.

Favorite course to compete on and why? Heritage Hills because the biggest competition is there. I know I reached my goal when I play there with the best of the best. Some of the best opponents are there.

What is your favorite golfing memory? In my sophomore year when I won my first big tournament- regionals. It is when I found my game, and was able to dominate everyone who was in my way.

What did you want to be when you were younger? An elementary school teacher.

What is your dream job now? A professional golfer, or sports journalism.

What is the coolest place you have traveled to? Tuscany, Italy

Who are your closest teammates? Honestly, we are all so close. The whole team is good friends.

How would you describe Coach Kipar in one word? Guiding

How would he describe you? Goofy

What sports quote or motto do you try to live by? “Never give up.”

What skill would you like to master? Chipping

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Something completely out of their comfort zone.

Random fun fact: My laugh is one of the most obnoxious noises anyone has ever heard.

Post-graduation plans: To get a business degree and continue working towards a golf scholarship. I want to continue playing golf in college, and go somewhere south for school.
