Tunkhannock Area swimmer Camryn Rogers finished first in all four of her events this past week against Wyoming Area, including the 100 free, 100 back, and as part of the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. In recognition of her achievement, Rogers has been named the Wyoming County Press Examiner Athlete of the Week.

Do you have any pets? A dog named Gypsy, two guinea pigs, two hermit crabs, and a fish.

Events: Mostly the freestyles, but mainly the 50 and 100 free.

What other sports do you play? I am a mile runner in track and also run cross country.

Three reasons why you compete: I compete because I like to push myself and have a feeling of accomplishment, I am pretty competitive, and I love the team aspect of sports.

What celebrity would you like to meet at Dunkin for a cup of coffee? Ryan Reynolds

Who inspires you to be better? My parents because they are pushing me constantly and are my number one support system, they are never disappointed in me, even if I don’t do well.

Favorite school subject: ZoologyIf you could live anywhere, where would it be? Alaska, though I wish it was warmer.

What is your biggest fear? Being alone.

Favorite Social Media App: Tik Tok

What is the last movie you saw in the theater? “Doolittle”

What is the best place for post game food? Texas Roadhouse, though Coach Mislevy would probably say Wendy’s.

Who makes you laugh the most? My team

Superstitions or Rituals: On the block, I crack my toes and stretch a lot.

What song would you sing at karaoke? “Tequila” by The Champs

When did you start swimming competitively? In sixth grade

Favorite pool to compete in and why? Either our home pool because we have the nicest blocks, or Scranton High School because it is a great environment to swim in. There is just something about both of those pools.

What is your favorite swimming memory? From this year, it would be the Ernie Shartle meet and senior night.

What did you want to be when you were younger? A veterinarian

What is your dream job now? A zoologist

What is the coolest place you have traveled to? It isn’t really one place, I go hiking in the woods in the oddest places.

Who are your closest teammates? The Weavers, Lexi, Hannah, Jordon, Mike, and Jakob.

How would you describe Coach King in one word? Observant

How would she describe you? Talkative

What sports quote or motto do you try to live by? “Just play, have fun, and enjoy the game.” by Michael Jordan

What skill would you like to master? To be able to fall asleep as soon as my eyes close.

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Something fun and thrilling, something you might regret

Random fun fact: I can out-eat most people.

Post-graduation plans: I’d like to go to either Bucknell or Ohio State to study zoology, and not sure about sports right now.
