2020 was full of challenges but the library can help fill 2021 with book challenges.

Challenge yourself to read authors from diverse backgrounds for at least 1200 minutes this January in the “Books Like Us” challenge sponsored by Simon & Schuster. Top-performing libraries and schools will earn rewards from Simon & Schuster, including book collections and virtual author visits; or try the “Winter Flurries” reading challenge where you can track all of your winter reading.

If there is a preschooler in your life, “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” is a perfect way to prepare them for a love of reading. Teens can join the “100 Books Before College” challenge. Ready, set, go read.

Stay connected and learn new things with the library’s virtual programs for the whole family. Check out the library’s YouTube channel for preschool storytime, Second Saturday STEM, and Third Thursday Tasty Treats. Adults can attend Knutty Knitters meetings or functional fitness classes through Zoom. To register for Zoom meeting please email tunkhannocklibrarymarketing@gmail.com

Are you interested in researching your family tree? The public can research from the comfort of their home with Ancestry, a collection of databases where people can find census records, military records, steamship passenger lists and more. Visit the library’s website to get started.
