Charges have been filed against an 18-year-old former student at EIHAB for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old at the Wyoming County school.
EIHAB is located in the former St. Michael’s School on Rt. 92 in Falls Township and its website describes its educational program as one for young people facing behavioral health challenges.
Evan Drew Bolthouse, of Girard, faces charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault, and corruption of minors.
According to a police criminal complaint, the alleged victim went to the nurse’s office at the school and asked to be taken to the hospital for a blood test for sexually transmitted diseases.
The alleged victim told the nurse that an assault happened at a previous placement, the complaint notes, but later shared with authorities that the activity actually happened in Bolthouse’s room in October or November, after they had left a common room at EIHAB where they had been playing Xbox.
Bolthouse was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plummer in Tunkhannock on Jan. 20.
Judge Plummer set bail at $200,000, and because Bolthouse was unable to post it, he was remanded to the Wyoming County Correctional Facility.
A preliminary hearing before Judge Plummer has been set for Feb. 14.
