The Hugo Selenski homicide case went national on the first day of the new year.
An episode about the convicted killer’s long journey through the justice system was the season premiere for the Investigation Discovery channel’s series called “Pandora’s Box: Unleashing Evil.”
Selenski’s episode is titled “A Handsome Devil,” according to a TV Guide listing.
The show premiered at 7 p.m. Monday.
Locally, the Investigation Discovery channel is located at channel 111 on Comcast, 197 on Service Electric and 285 on Direct TV.
Selenski, who famously escaped from the Luzerne County prison using bed sheets and once beat a set of murder charges in Luzerne County Court, was finally convicted in January 2015 of double murder for the strangulation deaths of pharmacist Michael Kerkowski and his girlfriend Tammy Fassett.
Their bodies, and the remains of at least three others, were unearthed in Selenski’s Kingston Twp. yard in June 2003.
Selenski, 44, is serving a life sentence at State Correctional Institution at Pine Grove in Indiana County.
Multiple local people involved in the Selenski case, like detectives and prosecutors, were interviewed on camera by the crew of the Investigation Discovery network earlier this year.
A producer of the show confirmed Thursday for its worldwide premiere on New Year’s Day.
A TV Guide.com listing teased the show this way: “When a Luzerne County detective follows up on a series of home invasions as a courtesy to a friend and veteran, his investigation brings him face-to-face with a serial sociopath guilty of far more than mere breaking and entering.”
