Two Luzerne County men pleaded guilty Friday morning on a lone felony charge of criminal trespass after authorities initially alleged they burglarized a Mehoopany Township home in December.

According to court records, Kevin Isbel Jr., 35, of Hunlock Creek, and Charles Dale Atkinson Jr., 39, of Luzerne, were rounded up by police on Dec. 23 after a neighbor observed three males running from a Sheehan Road house and called authorities.

The neighbor initially confronted the persons in the house, and yelled at them that he was going to call 911.

Another neighbor said he got a knock on the door from a stranger to the area who claimed to be broken down and was covered in mud, so he also called authorities.

Local police then responded to the area around Sugar Hollow Road and took Atkinson and Isbel into custody.

The two men each initially faced separate felony charges of criminal trespass and burglary but under a plea arrangement with District Attorney Jeff Mitchell, will not be prosecuted on the burglary charge at the time of sentencing.

According to Wyoming County President Judge Russell Shurtleff, they could each face up to seven years in prison and $15,000 in fines. They will be sentenced at a later date.

A third individual involved in the Dec. 23 incident, according to court records, Joseph Anthony Dickson, 47, of Trucksville, also was on the Wyoming County court docket to enter a similar criminal trespass plea Friday, but did not appear in court.

DA Mitchell asked the judge for a continuance to May 10, which the judge granted noting that Dickson was already on the court calendar for a jury trial in the matter on July 15.
