Mike Markovitz of the Tunkhannock Dive Rescue Team was one of many emergency responders who aided in the recovery.

The body of a New York man, reported missing late Wednesday night, was located deceased in Big Elk Lake Saturday.

State Police say that the wife of Richard Malecki, 73, of Newfield, N.Y., reported her husband did not return Oct. 14 after he went out to fish earlier in the day.

A cousin found Malecki’s vehicle parked at Big Elk Lake and became concerned. A search of the lake was conducted and Malecki’s boat was found floating in the lake.

Tunkhannock, Scott Township, Ledgedale, Gerrmania, and Athens dive teams participated in the search from a location on SR3001 in Dimock Township, and Elk Lake and United Fire Company of Montrose assisted.

A report filed Sunday by Tpr. Jordan Hornyak of the Gibson State Police barracks said the investigation was not considered suspicious.
