A 41-year-old Meshoppen man was arraigned last Tuesday (July 14) for sex assault charges including rape of a child and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse across a 5-month period.
Roger Daniel Williams, of Townhouse Lane, is in the Wyoming County Jail on $250,000 bail.
Meshoppen Police Chief John Krieg learned of the alleged behavior after getting a call from the Tyler Memorial Hospital emergency room staff.
According to a police criminal complaint, the victim claimed Williams provided her with a cell phone that her mother had not known about, and which her mother would not have approved.
The complaint states that Krieg asked Williams about the alleged incidents and was told the reason the victim “is saying this is because she’s upset that he is in jail and misses him and didn’t want him to go to jail.”
Williams gave Krieg his phones, and also provided him with passcodes.
Then Krieg notes in the complaint, Williams said he had nothing else to say.
Williams faces 110 different charges, including 88 felony counts of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age.
He is set for a preliminary hearing on July 28 before Magisterial District Judge David Plummer in Tunkhannock Township.
