Bridge Day on hold
The Nicholson Bridge Day event - typically the second Sunday of September - has been canceled for 2020. However, the Nicholson Women’s Club is working on alternate plans for their fundraiser this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Founders’ Day moved, cancelled
Tunkhannock’s Founders’ Day, usually set for late June, was moved to Oct. 3, to coincide with TBPA’s Fall Fest. However that date has now been cancelled.
Artists Weekend not open house
The Artists’ Open House Weekend usually held Columbus Day weekend in Susquehanna County will not be happening this fall this year. However, there will be a virtual viewing of area artists’ latest work and some artists will be offering curbside pick-up and other options.
No RR passenger runs at Steamtown
Steamtown National Historic Site has suspended the remainder of its scheduled 2020 railroad passenger operations. This includes the Scranton Limited short train rides, fall foliage excursions through the Poconos, and the popular Holiday Trains. The park in Scranton remains open 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., daily.
Bingo on hold
Bingo on alternate Mondays at Triton Hose Company, Tunkhannock, has been canceled until further notice.
Active Adult Centers
The Tunkhannock and Falls Active Adult Centers resumed a limited re-opening schedule on July 23.
Celebration a fizzle
A reminder to everyone is that Exeter Township’s ‘Falls Summer Celebration’ has been cancelled this year due to the continued, widespread effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Hopefully, next year will bring a positive change to this situation.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and for the safety of the community, the Tunkhannock Rotary Club has determined it will not be able to hold the Rotary Harvest and Wine Festival on Oct. 10, and it is in the process of working toward an Oct 9, 2021 festival.
Fleetville Fair cancelled
Fleetville Volunteer Fire Company has announced the postponement of the 2020 Fall Fair to Sept. 11, 2021. With the current mandate of the governor that outdoor events do not exceed 250 people, and indoor events at 25, it would not be possible to manage nor be profitable for vendors to continue.
Bloomers set aside
Back Mountain Bloomers Garden Club regrets that its upcoming Fall Luncheon to be held at the Irem Country Club, Dallas, has been postponed until 2021. The club’s next Back Mountain Garden Tour will be held in the summer of 2022.
The rest of the 2020 schedule for the Wyoming Valley Civil War Roundtable has been cancelled.
The Roundtable will resume in 2021.
The Endless Mountains Heritage Region Youth Heritage Sojourn down the Susquehanna River set for May 28-30 has been tentatively rescheduled for Sept. 24-26. Info: Keith at 570-764-7102.

No DAR meeting

No Camp Kelly
United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania has canceled its annual Camp Kelly and Project Hope in Lemon Township are canceled for 2020.
