A Tunkhannock tradition of fireworks on the 3rd, always made possible by the Rotary, has been postponed until 2021.


Lake Winola cancels

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lake Winola Fire Company has cancelled its 2020 Carnival.

However, the fire company will be having a drive-through Chicken BBQ on Saturday, June 27. Please keep looking for updates and thanks to the community for its support.

Fireworks on 3rd gone

It is with great regret that the Tunkhannock Rotary announces that there will not be a Popstar Drive concert followed by a Fireworks Display on July 3rd at Memorial Stadium.

The reason for the postponement is due to the restrictions on large gatherings of more than 250 people due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Antique Power


The Board of the Endless Mountains Antique Power Association recently met and decided to cancel this year’s show set for early July at Lazybrook Park. See you in 2021.

No Triton carnival

The Triton Hose Company Carnival usually set for the end of July/early August will not be happening this summer.

Roundtable over

The rest of the 2020 schedule for the Wyoming Valley Civil War Roundtable has been cancelled. The Roundtable will resume in 2021.

Sojourn reset

EMHR’s Youth Heritage Sojourn down the Susquehanna River set for May 28-30 has been tentatively rescheduled for Sept. 24-26. Info: Keith at 570-764-7102.

No Montrose Fireworks

The Montrose Kiwanis Club and Lions Club announced this year’s July 4 celebration has been cancelled sue to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. The clubs plan to hold the celebration in 2021.

Founders’ Day moved

Tunkhannock’s Founders’ Day, usually set for late June, has been moved to Oct. 3, to coincide with TBPA’s Fall Fest.

Tunkhannock Library

The library is open for curbside pick up only. Visit Tunkhannocklibrary.org for instructions on returning and picking up materials.

No DAR meeting

Due to restrictions on group gatherings, the Tunkhannock Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution have canceled all meetings and activities until further notice. For info, contact Nancy at 570-945-5197.

Spring Cleanups

Lemon Township has announced that its annual Spring Cleanup, usually set in June, will likely be in the fall.

Tunkhannock Township which also typically has an early June Spring Cleanup has announced it has been moved to June 27, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

No Camp Kelly

United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania has canceled its annual Camp Kelly and Project Hope in Lemon Township are canceled for 2020.

Bingo on hold

Bingo resumed June 22 at Northmoreland Volunteer Fire Company, Center Moreland, and will likely be in place every other Monday. Social distancing in place.

Bingo on alternate Mondays at Triton Hose Company, Tunkhannock, has been canceled until further notice.

Friday night Bingo at the Lake Carey Fire Company has been canceled until further notice.

Active Adult Centers

The Tunkhannock and Falls Active Adult Centers are closed until further notice.

Legion meeting

Dennis Strong American Legion Post 457 canceled its May meeting. Unless otherwise notified, there will be a meeting in June.

Rabies Clinic

The Humane Society of Wyoming County’s spring rabies clinic, originally scheduled for May, has been postponed. Please watch for further updates. For more info, contact Gail at 570- 836-4745

Historical Society

The Wyoming County Historical Society facility at the corner of Bridge and Harrison Streets in Tunkhannock is closed until further notice. For info, call 570-836-5303 or visit pawchs.org

League Shutdown

Belvedere Lanes in Nicholson will not be finishing bowling leagues. The plan is to carry everything over to next season and run a 36 week league.

North Branch artists

All of the ‘North Branch Art Soup’ activities have been canceled, to be rescheduled as soon as allowed. That includes the North Branch Art Soup exhibit in the county courthouse art gallery, and a reception.
