Firefighters from Triton Hose Company arrive on scene of a fully engulfed camper fire at Onawandah Campground in Eaton Township Saturday morning. The fire remains under investigation.

A pull-behind camper at Onawandah Campground just off Keelersburg Road in Eaton Township was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning.

Around 6:15 a.m., a call went out from the Wyoming County 911 Communications Center of a camper on fire at the campground that fronts the Susquehanna River.

Within minutes, Triton Hose Company arrived with an assist by Northmoreland, but the camper was already engulfed in flames.

The fire was knocked down in short order to protect surrounding structures.

Triton Fire Chief Eric Kukuchka said that one person in the camper refused treatment but sustained some minor burns the extent of which is not clear. He noted that four RVs or campers sustained minor damage as a result of the fire.

Kukuchka said the fire-engulfed camper belonged to Michael Harris of Forty Fort.

State Fire Marshal Karri Dodson arrived on the scene later in the morning, and said the cause of the fire was undetermined.
