The Elk Lake boys cross country team picked up three wins and the Lackawanna Trail girls won two in a meet at Susquehanna on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
The Warriors improved their overall record to 6-1 in the Lackawanna League with a 15-39 victory over the host Susquehanna, a 17-38 win over Mountain View and a 16-43 win over Lackawanna Trail.
Elk Lake also lost to Lakeland on the day, 25-34.
Leading the way for the Warriors was junior Peyton Jones, who finished third overall in 17:37, and senior Cody Oswald, who was right behind in 18:13.
Montrose’s Brandon Curley won the 3.1-mile race in 17:26.
On the Lackawanna Trail side, the Lions dropped to 0-5 with losses to Montrose (15-50), Blue Ridge (17-38) and Elk Lake.
The Lions’ junior high team did pick up three wins, with Deagan Ross crossing the line as the top finisher.
Trail’s girls team evened out its record to 2-2 with 15-50 wins over Elk Lake and Montrose.
Sophomore Tori James led the Lady Lions by finishing fourth overall in 22:20.
Also for Trail, sophomore Madison Swanchak placed seventh in 23:45.
The Lady Warriors had some solid performances from a trio of runners, with junior Shyanne Bennett taking second in 22:01, sophomore Sadie Bosscher placing sixth in 23:32 and senior Lydia Ofalt in ninth at 24:56.
Montrose’s Hannah Perkins won the race in 20:35.
Elk Lake’s Krista Jones was also the top finisher in the junior high race to help lead the Lady Warriors to four wins.
