The Tunkhannock Area High School Powder Puff Game is being played this year in conjunction with the sponsoring of local charities.
The girls will be competing against each other for bragging rights as usual, but together they will be competing to help out those less fortunate in our community.
On Friday, the game will kick off a week of collections.
The National Honors Society will begin their annual food drive, beginning on Nov. 13 and continuing through to Nov. 17.
A competition will be held between grade level classes to see which one can bring in the most non-perishable foods. Collection boxes will be placed in each homeroom.
As the holiday seasons and impending cold weather quickly approaches, students will continue to collect non-perishable food items, as well as gently used winter clothing for admission into this year’s game.
A monetary donation will also be accepted for entry into the game, and those involved are asking to aid in spreading the word.
The game will be held this Friday at 7:30 p.m. on the football field.
Baked goods and refreshments donated by the freshman class will be available for purchase.
The more people that attend the event, the more money and items will be donated to make it something that the school community, can truly be proud of.
