The Elk Lake girls soccer team worked to a 4-4 tie against Carbondale Area on Monday afternoon after losing 5-0 at Dunmore on Friday in its season opener.

On Monday, Carbondale scored just 28 seconds into the game and added another goal one minute and 15 seconds later to take a quick 2-0 lead.

The Lady Warriors responded near the end of the first half when junior Tiffany Toth scored off an assist from Grasyn Bushnell in the 25th minute before Bushnell added a goal of her own with 52 seconds left before halftime to tie things up.

Carbondale pulled back ahead by two on two penalty kicks before senior Eliza Bosscher scored unassisted to pull the Lady Warriors to within one.

With just four seconds left in the game, Bushnell found the back of the net off a penalty kick to secure the hat trick and to force overtime, where both teams would go scoreless for the tie.

Elk Lake held the shots advantage in the game and also had eight more corner kicks than Carbondale.

Junior Lucy Ives had six saves for the Lady Warriors in the tie.

At Dunmore, the Lady Bucks scored three goals in the first half and added two more in the second in the shutout.

Dunmore held the shots advantage, 23-3, and the corners advantage, 6-1.

Ives finished the game with five saves in net for Elk Lake.
