The Elk Lake boys cross country team improved to 10-4 in the Lackawanna League after picking up three wins at Blue Ridge on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
The Warriors picked up victories over North Pocono (24-33), Blue Ridge (25-30) and Valley View (25-32), while also losing to Montrose (21-40) and Abington Heights (21-40).
Junior Peyton Jones and senior Cody Oswald led Elk Lake in fifth and sixth, respectively, finishing the 3.1-mile course with times of 17:25 and 17:35.
Abington Heights’ Kyle Burke won the race and set a course record in the process with his time of 16:46.
On the girls’ side, junior Shyanne Bennett let the Lady Warriors in third with a time of 20:45, shortly followed by sophomore Sadie Bosscher in fifth with a finish of 21:43.
Abington Heights’ Katie Dammer set a course record and won the race in 19 minutes.
In the junior high race, Elk Lake’s Krista Jones won the race and also set a course record with her time of 10:30 to help lead the Lady Warriors to four wins.
